Welcome to ‘Out There Making Magic’

Hi, I’m Victoire, a Belgian living in Connecticut with my husband Peter (known around here as PLB), who also happens to be my editor and partner-in-creative-crime. We’re raising four wild little ones “My Dragons” born between 2014 and 2024, along with a few chickens, a cat, and a rotating cast of dreams we’re building, one season at a time.

Right now, I’m in a season of transition: no full-time job, just the full-time job of figuring life out. I’m job hunting, homemaking, plotting projects big and small, and pouring a whole lot of love and curiosity into this little Substack. It’s become a place of play and pause for me, and I hope it becomes something like that for you, too.

I started Out Here Making Magic because I wanted a place to slow down and reflect on the stuff that makes life feel meaningful; tiny victories, family rituals, home projects, habits I’m testing (or failing), books I can’t stop thinking about, and recipes that earned repeat status at the table. Some days it works. Some days it’s chaos. That’s the magic of it.

This space is meant to feel like a corner of coziness and conversation. A place to exhale. A community of people who are also trying to make a little magic out of the ordinary. I hope you’ll feel welcome here.
